In the morning of Tuesday June 6th at 17 Elementary Schools around the district, teachers, parents, community members and students held signs that read “Teachers NEED Textbooks,” “Support Teachers,” and “We stand with the teachers.” Cars honked in support, while some members went to parents’ cars to hand out flyers informing them of the curriculum’s rejection and inviting them to the Rally.

At 4pm that afternoon Temecula Valley Educators Association (TVEA) members and community supporters rallied in protest over the recent school board vote rejecting the elementary school-level social studies textbook, leaving students without books for the coming school year.

President Edgar Diaz welcomed and thanked everyone for attending the rally. He gave a brief explanation of the textbook Issue. Three elementary teachers; Danell Anderson, Donna Kronenfeld and Annalisa Bujas and a high school teacher Diana Arban spoke about their concerns regarding the Governing Board decision. Three parents Jessica Gorman, Valerie Steve and Andrea Dunham spoke not only of their concerns but of their support for Temecula Educators. Councilman Brian Hawkins encouraged our Community to let our Governing Board know WE ARE HERE!  And Current Governing Board Member Allison Barclay shared how she is thankful for everyone and is supporting the best she possibly can. President Edgar Diaz reminded everyone how they can support our educators and students by getting the word out about what is happening in our school district to everyone they know. Organizational Director closed out the Rally inviting everyone to show up next Tuesday to the Rally at 5pm the Ronald Reagan Sports Park and walk united to the Governing Board Meeting.
